When I had a baby on me and others in the cradle, I was working 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to look good, but there were a few things left. It would take an enormous amount of work and a love of shopping. My three sons and I searched for hidden gems while at estate sales to keep my spending under control. We had a weekly schedule that consisted of spending Thursday through Saturday walking around sale houses and garages, shopping for new and used things. The rest of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. My love for furniture repair began when I saw a style similar to this. After our home was fully furnished, I could not quit! At the local market I set up a little space and sold some objects. It was possible to expand my space because I owned plenty of pieces that I could use. The number of people who visited my house in one weekend, to shop for everything that was on the ground. Growing Days was founded in my own home. The business I was running was growing however my family was also expanding. The balance was between starting a business and being a mother. Growing Days just fit. In 2013, my beautiful daughter Nora came along our 4th kiddo. While I was pleased with the direction my business was taking, I realized that I was in need of a little break. I decided to step back to spend time at home, with my children. That was exactly what I needed at that time. After a while, off the phone started to call. They asked for my assistance in decorating and renovations. A majority of these were people who had been through my home during the open house for furniture! It wasn't long before I had a fully-fledged house renovation business. It began with taking clients with a speed I felt confident in. Most likely, I'd have laughed had somebody had informed me that my venture was going to be part of a forthcoming television show on DIY Network. In the present, as I reflect on the situation, I find myself laughing.
