April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music in the 7th grade when she started piano and guitar classes. April Lockhart wrote her first track"Different" when she was 12 years old. At 14 old, she dedicated the majority of her time creating song ideas and perfecting her music. Soon, April began taking trips to NY and LA with her Dad so that they could both write songs. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for the people in her life who are struggling with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart has her own following and works as a lifestyle blogger at the renowned Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. As a woman born with no left hand, the woman has a significant part to play in herself. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. As a result Lockhart's Instagram page isn't afraid to talk about her handicap, however the focus isn't on it neither. What message does it convey? The message? That we have many different aspects, that our identity and physical self aren't as they appear. I don't want that to define me I don't want to be a disability influencer in which I only speak about since there are many different aspects to me. Lockhart states in video form from her residence in Nashville. This doesn't influence my day-to-day life. I go about doing my job as normal and have developed my own ways to adapt. However, I also consider it a very important aspect of me. Lockhart is a true source of motivation for self-acceptance generally she is on a long process to attain the goal. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of insecurity with her body, and also feeling uneasy wearing certain clothing styles which exposed her arms. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and happily shares pictures of her wearing these clothes. For her, self-love is always a lengthy trip. The same is true for everybody, no matter what their degree of self-confidence. I think that having people around you who really know you and see your heart is really important since they'll be those who will remind you what you worried about?
